I am super excited to announce that 2009 marks Gotham City Online's 10 year anniversary. As you may know, Gotham City Online is more than just the best place to shop for unbeatable prices on designer shoes online. We have a passion for helping others which has grown along with our company's success. (I encourage new customers to read more about our charity work). Thanks to customers like you Gotham has helped raise over $1,300,000 for charity since 1999! But we're definitely not stopping there.

We have all been affected by the recent slide in the economy. Schools and other charity organizations are hurting more than ever and unfortunately even fewer people are be able to lend assistance due to their own financial situation. Even animal shelters are reporting unusually high rates of animal abandonment due to some families having to decide between feeding themselves or their pets!

Gotham is grateful to be in a position to help out our friends, so in celebration of our 10 year anniversary and the coming holiday season, we plan to do just that. You don't have to do anything different, just keep shopping! Soon we will be donating up to 20% of your purchase (no extra charge) to a worthy charity. But here's the best part… you get to pick which charity you want to support each time you place an order!

We already have some great causes in mind but we want your help too. If you know any registered charities or worthwhile community organizations that could use our help, please let me know! Cheers! -Chloe (aka GothamGirl)

Wednesday, September 17th - Fashion Week

Fashion Week (officially September 5 - 12, 2008) was really fantastic! Spring 2009 collections belonging to some of the world's top designers were shown on the runways and you couldn't help but bump into gorgeous people everywhere. TV crews were hanging around backstage for interviews; paparazzi, fans and bloggers alike had their cameras ready for chance celebrity encounters; and free samples were handed out to every pedestrian in the area. On that note, one great thing about New York Fashion Week is that security only exists to prevent uninvited people from entering the actual, individual tents. Anyone can wander around the area, mill with the fashionable people, or sit and relax in the beautiful Bryant Park!

Now, let's talk about the shoes! Any blog or fashion magazine can show you photos of what went down the runways so I thought it might be a little more interesting to show you what real women were wearing that week! Some were dressed for comfort, which is understandable since hopping from tent to tent all day can equate to quite a bit of mileage. But others looked like they probably sleep in their stilettos. In the pictures we took for you below you'll see what I did: a ton of black pumps (with the tallest heel you can manage), cowboy boots, gladiator sandals and bejeweled styles. Cheers! -Chloe (aka GothamGirl)

Wednesday, September 10th - Recent Blog Feedback

It's fashion week here in New York City and the glamour is out of control! I visited the tents in Bryant Park and brought Gotham's photographer with me so you are in for a treat - stay tuned. In the meantime I thought I'd post a few of the comments I recently received from readers. Keep 'em coming!

"Great blog! Here is the reply to your question: I'm keeping ALL my shoes. Whether it's cold or hot. 99% of my shoes are from Gotham City Online. If I have to wear socks with my sandals, then so be it. Can't wait for the next post!" -- Sofia

"I LOVE this site! Thanks for updating all of the Gotham fans on the new trends, and providing pictures of NYC. Keep up the good work, Gotham Girl!" -- Ashley

"oh myyyy god, thank is sooo cool." -- Tanisha

"I love wearing flip flops everyday so I am always sad when I have to put them away. Well, I still wear them indoors! But, I guess my favorite trend from this summer was gladiator sandals. They always look dressy and really sophisticated." -- Jill

Tuesday, August 19th - My New York City!

Welcome to my New York City! To introduce you to the sights, I thought I’d share some pictures of the things I see every day: the Empire State Building, Penn Station (not only a major train terminal but also the site of reality TV show tapings, giant movie posters and free sample handouts), millions of tourists and locals, the daily activities of the Fashion District (huge spools of fabric being rolled down the never-empty streets, buyers selecting swatches and fasteners, etc) and the legendary sidewalk food vendors!

And now for the part you’ve been waiting for ... the shoes! Early in the morning, since the weather is still warm, I’ve seen many women (and some men!) wearing flip-flops. They all have their real day shoes tucked inside oversize handbags or totes for later, because when you have over an hour commute and then have to walk a few blocks (and NYC does not always have the most level streets and sidewalks, not to mention the heel-breaking grates!), why not enjoy that comfy style while you still can? In more casual work environments, some are choosing metallic gladiators instead to wear all day long!

What shoes will you be crying to give up when the weather starts getting brisk ... or will you be braving icy toes until the snow falls? Let me know using the comment box below and I’ll post the results in my next blog! Until then, Cheers! -Chloe (aka GothamGirl)

Thursday, July 29th - Style in the City!

Gotham City Online has had tremendous success over the years thanks to all our fantastic customers and lately we have not been able to keep all our shoes in one closet, as the saying goes. After selling over 1,000,000 shoes since 1999, it was time to relocate our warehouse to a new, state-of-the-art (and larger!) shipping and processing facility in Kentucky. Our team of fashion experts, however, had already been on the look-out for a hip new office in the place they’d visited so often to find the latest styles for you: New York City.

We are happy to announce that we have found an amazing office in the heart of New York City’s Fashion District, the fashion capital of the world! Even better, we have decided to share the excitement and energy of this dynamic neighborhood with you via this brand new blog. Why should we be the only ones who get to enjoy this new fast-paced atmosphere with trendsetters on every corner and some of the best shoe stores in the world?! If you can’t get to the Big Apple, we’ll bring it to you.

In this blog, we hope to bring you all the latest fashion trends direct from New York City (of course), real pictures of shoes we find on fashionable people walking around the city, surveys on what other people are thinking, plus lots more fun stuff to help you experience the action. Please share your suggestions with us, we would love to hear about what you would like to see and read in our blog. Cheers, Chloe (aka GothamGirl)
